Diabetes Link Nurse Education Day
Aims
To provide new Diabetes Link Nurses with knowledge and skills required to provide effective nursing care to clients with diabetes and to educate staff on their respective wards.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the Education Day, participants will have an increased understanding of:
- Pathophysiology of the different types of diabetes and the recommended self-management to avoid complications.
- Treatment and prevention of diabetes related emergencies (DKA/HHS/hypoglycaemia)
- Insulin Safety/Medication Management
- Diabetes & diet
Eligibility
Must be a new Diabetes Link Nurse (DLN) within CALHN in the last 12 months &/or hasn’t attended a DLN Day previously. Preference will be given to new DLN’s.
