CALHN Nursing Education Courses
Safety Intervention Training (Glenside Health Services)
This training replaces the previous Managing Actual and Potential Aggression (MAPA) mandatory training for all CALHN Mental Health Clinical Program staff. The below is a guide to assist you in enrolling in the correct program.
All new staff to Mental Health Clinical Program (MHCP) (clinical or non-clinical) (including community staff) are required to complete a full day (8 hours) face to face Safety Intervention program, utilising a physical workbook to facilitate the training.
Training for Inpatient Unit and Emergency Department (clinical) staff will be a four hour Foundation face to face training session, utilising a physical workbook. Identified staff will progress to completion of Safety Intervention Advanced training.
Training for Community (clinical) staff will be a blended format of online theory training and face to face practical assessment. The online theory training must be completed prior to attendance at the face-to-face practical assessment. Applications to attend this face to face training MUST be accompanied by evidence of completion of the online theory training. No application will be accepted without this evidence. Face to face practical assessments will be conducted by Nurse Educators attending the worksites. The online theory licenses are available by emailing HealthMentalHealthLearningCentre@sa.gov.au
Safety Intervention (Refresher) training is for inpatient clinical staff who have previously completed Managing Actual and Potential Aggression (MAPA) training.
Safety Intervention training for Mental Health Clinical Program staff who are not in the above categories will be by contacting The Learning Centre at HealthMentalHealthLearningCentre@sa.gov.au
