Clinical Nurse Professional Development Program (CNPDP)

Audience

 Open to all CALHN Level 2 Registered Nurses.

Aim

The Clinical Nurse (CN) Professional Development Program aims to further develop skills and knowledge for RN2’s enabling them to perform their role effectively to enhance safety and quality of patient care delivery.

The portfolio aligns with National Safety & Quality Health Care Standards within the clinical specialty and it is an expectation that the CN demonstrates professionalism; leadership and evidence based clinical knowledge focusing on quality and improvements to patient centered care.

The one day program is suitable for newly appointed or experienced CN’s who are seeking continual professional development within their role.

 Learning Outcomes

To enable participants to:

  • Understand the role, responsibilities and expectations of the CN in practice
  • Maintain a Clinical Portfolio aligned with NSQHS standards
  • Commence a Quality Improvement Project (QIP)
  • Provide mentoring support
  • Improve communication in challenging situations
