Teaching in the Workplace (RAH Campus)

Workshop/Program Aim:

To provide an interactive program that supports the development of knowledge and skills when teaching in the workplace. Content is delivered face to face in classroom environment as well as completing two short activities prior to attendance. (Taking Approx. a half hour)

Pre-requisites

Completion of pre attendance activities, these will be emailed to you upon application for the course

Suitable Applicants

Employed within Central Adelaide Local Health Network and actively involved in workplace teaching.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will be able to design interactive strategies to enhance teaching and learning practice while taking into account adult learning principles and learning styles for greater up-take and retention of knowledge and skills.

  • Create expectation, Give responsibility
  • Learning styles
  • Adult learning principles
  • Curse of knowledge/compiled thinking
  • Writing learning outcomes and Learning/Assessment plans
  • “Remembering” to learn (encoding)
  • Meta-cognition and learning
  • Preparing learners to learn
  • Understanding the communication process
  • Effective questioning
  • Providing feedback to learners
