Overview/ Program Content
The aim of the workshop is to acquaint participants with types of radiotherapy including external beam and brachytherapy, the biological impact of radiation on cancerous and normal tissue, treatment planning, skin toxicities and adverse side effects and the nursing management of people undergoing radiotherapy. Issues related to radiation hazards and principles of protection are also addressed.
Workshop will also include a tour of the RAH radiotherapy department.
The participants will gain a basic understanding of the principles of managing patients undergoing radiotherapy, how to care for these patients and the principles behind this care.
1 ½ day program
Day 1 - Thursday 12th August 2021 (8.30am - 4.30pm)
Day 2 - Friday 13th August 2021 (8.30am - 12.30pm)
