Basic Life Support Instructors Update (CALHN)

Aim of Courses

To provide a program to formally update Basic Life Support Instructors as current and competent

Pre-requisites

Employed within CALHN as a current BLS Instructor

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this 2 hour update workshop, participants will:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of current ARC guidelines and an awareness of the role
  • Outline and demonstrate the role of the instructor in teaching and assessing BLS practical competency
  • Review ethical dilemmas and conflicts associated with the teaching and practice of BLS
  • Explain WH&S implications and Infection Control principles relating to the teaching of BLS

  • Teaching and Assessing BLS
  • Resources and Data Management
  • Teaching Skill Stations (incorporated practical update)

Assessment Criteria

Participants must review the ARC Guidelines http://learningcentral.org.au/  prior to attending the update

Participants are required to complete the BLS update online component prior to attending
