Basic Life Support Practical Assessment - Glenside Campus

here is no theoretical presentation at this assessment.  This program is practical assessment only.  All staff are required to complete the theoretical component via the CALHN Learning Management System prior to attendance.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the workshop participants will have an increased awareness of:

  • the DRSABCD sequence and be able to demonstrate competency in basic life support
  • when and why the use of an automated external defibrillator is vital for basic life support and have the skills to utilise the equipment
  • WHS issues related to safety of all concerned parties in basic life support situations.

Eligibility / Entry Requirements

This program is limited to CALHN Adult Mental Health Service employees only.

This program is not a walk in service.  Applications must be made and submitted with discipline senior approval.  All applicants will be emailed a confirmation of registration and prior to the session date a further email will be sent identifying a a 1/2 hour timeslot to attend.


Assessment via both verbal and practical demonstrations required.  Assessment must be successfully completed to meet the satisfaction of CALHN requirements. CALHN does not endorse use of this skill set outside of their employment.
