Associate Nurse Unit Manager Professional Development Program

Audience:

Open to all CALHN Associate Nurse Unit Managers (ANUM). At this time it is recommended that only staff from the facilitating site attend.


Learning Intentions:

At the completion of the ANUM Professional Development Program participants are anticipated to be able to:

  • Describe their role and responsibilities;
  • Manage  conflict and provide constructive feedback;
  • Understand leadership and communication principles;
  • Identify stressors and develop strategies to build resilience;
  • Undertake daily operational activities including rostering/staff allocations with understanding of NHPPD;
  • Complete an effective quality improvement activity including audit report with recommendations;
  • Have an understanding of the requirements for working within allocated budget;
  • Have an understanding of correct process for researching, writing, publishing and reviewing OWI’s & SSI’s;
  • Develop skills to undertake an interview.

 

Details of the Program:

 Attendees are required to:

  • Complete pre-program material prior to attending
  • Attend an 8 hour Professional Development Day  (PDD)
  • Attend 4 x 2 hour education sessions after the PDD (see below)
  • Present their Quality Improvement  (QI) at the final  session

 Provision of post PDD support for participants with new knowledge, skills, QI completion and upload will be provided from Nursing Education and QI consultants.
