CALHN Infection Prevention and Control (IPCU) - Workshops

IPCU conducts staff training in the area of Infection Control. 

Information provided at these training sessions enables the ICLN to act as an effective resource for infection prevention and control issues, acting as a role model for other healthcare professionals including students, monitor infection control practices in clinical areas, provide ongoing education, and identify any barriers or challenges in the application of infection control practices in clinical areas.

The following workshops are available:

Infection Control Introductory Workshop

This workshop is held for all CALHN clinical staff with an interest in infection prevention and control. The content is tailored to provide a good basis for understanding infection prevention and control in an acute setting.

Priority will be given to current Infection Control Ward Representatives or staff who hold an infection prevention and control portfolio.

National Hand Hygiene Initiative (NHHI) Auditor Workshop

For the NHHI, hand hygiene compliance is audited by direct observation of healthcare workers by specially trained auditors. There are two categories of hand hygiene auditors: Gold Standard Auditors and General Auditors. General auditor training is only able to be conducted by a validated Gold Standard Auditor. General auditors are not able to train others.

Infection Control Link Nurse Program Workshop

Each workshop is designed based on current / emerging infection prevention concerns. An agenda can be uploaded at the time of the registration opening.
