Understanding and Responding to Risk Factors

In this Level 2 course you will be able to build on what you have previously learned and develop skills and knowledge relating to your role as a health care clinician or as a manager in promoting the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this course you will be able to:

  • recognise your role as a health care worker in utilising secondary and tertiary approaches to child protection
  • explain the impact domestic and family violence, caregiver substance misuse, caregiver mental health issues and disengagement from services has on child safety and wellbeing
  • explain the role and function of the Multi Agency Protection Service and the Family safety Framework
  • explain the concept of cumulative risk and harm and its impact on child safety and wellbeing
  • identify personal stress and utilise self-care activities
  • locate Child Protection supports and services.
