This course was primarily designed for nursing staff working with patients who have risk of seizures.

Learning Objectives

• Describe the causes of a seizure and be aware of triggers.
• State the difference between seizures and an epilepsy diagnosis.
• Gain an understanding of the many classifications of seizures.
• State the diagnostic testing used in epilepsy.
• State the nursing management of a patient having a seizure including safety precautions.
• Review and recognize commonly used anti epileptic medications.
