Fundamentals of Clinical Supervision

Intended Audience:

This course is about the Clinical Supervision of qualified health professionals. It provides you with the opportunity to think about your own role as a supervisor or supervisee and how you can enhance the supervision relationship.

Content Summary:

Quality clinical supervision in health care is underpinned by an effective relationship between the supervisor and the supervisee. The goals of clinical supervision are to facilitate the personal and professional development of the supervisee and, through this support, the provision of quality services to clients. Supervision works best when there is a clearly defined two-way relationship, underpinned by sound processes and practices that lead to positive growth in learning and reflection.

A range of strategies and ideas for supervision will be explored in this course. You may like to take one or two away to try in your own practice — it is not necessary that you use every strategy or method discussed in the course. You might like to discuss them with your own supervisor or manager or make some notes to refer to in your own practice.

SA Health has developed three separate courses about clinical supervision. In this course, you will have the opportunity to think about your own role as a supervisor or supervisee and how you can enhance the supervision relationship.
