MRO Screening and Clearance

This course is intended to provide a summary update for CALHN Procedure00760: MRO Screening and Clearance. It is intended to highlight some important changes that effect all staff working at CALHN sites regarding screening and clearing patients for multi-resistant organisms, often abbreviated as MRO. It does not replace the need to read PRC00760 – staff are encouraged to access the full document via eCentral and review in it’s entirety. (This hyperlink will ONLY work on devices which are connected to the internal intranet network.) 

The course content consists of a 15-minute video followed by a short quiz. Upon completion you will be supplied with a certificate of completion. You have an opportunity to provide feedback at the end to help us improve course content via the feedback survey.


Learning Objectives

This module will provide information to healthcare staff who will be assessing and caring for patients in a CALHN healthcare setting. Learning outcomes will include:

  • An introduction to the background of multi-resistant organisms (MRO) and their ability to enter the healthcare setting.
  • Rationale behind the MRO screening risk assessment process
  • Practical tips for managing patients who meet CALHN MRO screening criteria.
